China's Economy: An Insider's View

For decades, China’s economic growth has been stratospheric, and its ability to lift millions from poverty unprecedented — crowning achievements for the Chinese state and its economic planners. Today the combination of slowing growth and turbulent markets are telling a different story — and today few global questions matter ‎as much as this one: what is the true, current state of China's economic health? The answer matters not only to China, but to the region and the world at large.

Asia Society Policy Institute will host a special breakfast event with Liu Mingkang, former chairman of the China ‎Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), in conversation with Kevin Rudd, ASPI President. Professor Liu is uniquely qualified to speak on these issues, having held top positions in China’s banking industry for more than 20 years, and served as the first-ever chairman of the CBRC. Under his leadership, China implemented a series of reforms that stabilized the Chinese banking industry. Attend for a true insider’s view of the state of play in China today.

Asia Society has generously reserved 10 free seats for YPFP members for this event. Members may log into their accounts and RSVP below to be added to the list.
