Dear Colleague,

As YPFP continues to recruit new leaders for all areas of the organization, we would like to make you aware of opportunities in Communications and Technology.  We are recruiting for the positions of Associate Director of Media Relations, Editor of the YPFP Wire, Graphic Designers, Photographers, Staff Writers for Communications, and the YPFP Technology Team.  To apply for a position, please e-mail a resume and cover letter to recruiting@ypfp.org and include the title of the position(s) you are applying for in the subject line of your email.

COMMUNICATIONS
 
Communications is a crucial aspect of YPFP's efforts to articulate its mission and demonstrate the value of its programs to our members, the foreign policy community, potential funders, and the public. Working with the Communications Staff provides opportunities to develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy, interact with all of the people and programs within YPFP; produce creative materials; employ and hone writing, journalism, marketing, photography, and graphic design skills; gain valuable leadership and management experience; and be a part of a dynamic team of young professionals from Washington, New York, London, Brussels, and around the world.   • Associate Director of Media Relations: The Associate Director of Media Relations is a senior position on the Communications Staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in marketing and media relations - http://www.ypfp.org/associatedirectormediarelations
  • Editor of the YPFP Wire: The Editor of the YPFP Wire formulates the creative and substantive direction of YPFP's newsletter, which is currently released every two months. This position requires creativity, strong editing skills, attention to detail, and excellent time management - http://www.ypfp.org/editorypfpwire
  • Graphic Designers: The Graphic Designers are responsible for developing the visual "brand" of YPFP. They will ideally be located in DC, but applicants from other branches are welcome to apply. They should have experience with and access to some kind of graphic design program.  http://www.ypfp.org/graphicdesigners
  • Photographers: The Photographers will creatively document the activities of YPFP's programs and events from the individual branches of Washington DC, London, New York, and Brussels, and applicants from all branches are welcome. The ideal candidates will have photography experience and access to a digital camera. http://www.ypfp.org/photographers
  • Staff writers: Staff writers from each branch contribute the bulk of the communications content for YPFP's informational, publicity and marketing materials, and all members are welcome to apply. The ideal candidates will have journalism experience, a sharp, direct writing style, and the ability to think critically and creatively about an effective communications strategy. http://www.ypfp.org/staffwriters  

TECHNOLOGY
 
With a website that averages thousands of hits a day, a complex IT and staff management system, and a variety of new demands as YPFP expands globally, YPFP utilizes state-of-the-art technology systems to communicate with its worldwide membership and manage its extensive programs. To assist with these efforts, YPFP is recruiting members for the all-new YPFP Technology Team.  http://www.ypfp.org/technologyteam

Duties of the YPFP Technology Team will include some of the following:

  • Managing and updating online content for our website, www.ypfp.org.
  • Seeking innovative ways to use technology and the internet to create a global virtual YPFP community, and enhance existing programs for discussion and public service.
  • Managing and integrating Google Apps, PayPal, Drupal, and other applications.
  • Identifying and integrating relevant technology solutions to further improve communication and management within YPFP. 
  • Assisting in building a community of YPFP bloggers.

The YPFP Technology Team seeks individuals with the following background:

  • Experience in programming languages: HTML, Java, Drupal, and others.
  • High familiarity with Facebook, Linkedin and other social networking sites.
  • Experience in website design, content management, or blogging.
  • Database management
  • Overall enthusiasm for utilizing technology to improve communication, management, and organizational efficiencies.
