The Leadership Incubator is a special class of YPFP programming. The initiative consists of modules, each a series of activities that build competency in a skill or knowledge area of vital importance to future foreign policy leaders. The modules last 6-8 weeks, are composed of 20-30 participants, and include lectures, instruction, and collaborative, hands-on activities. YPFP has executed previous modules on topics ranging from Strategic Communications in a Digital Age to International Conflict Resolution.

Future YPFP Leadership Incubator modules will continue to focus on multidisciplinary topics that have broad applicability across the foreign policy community and will impact international affairs over the long term. YPFP’s next module will explore Sustainable Development.

"The leaders of tomorrow must possess a broad understanding of Sustainable Development as a multidimensional strategy that requires innovative political, environmental, economic, and societal approaches."

The concept of Sustainable Development has come to the forefront of the international agenda over the last few decades as both a lens through which to conceptualize development efforts beyond just economic growth, as well as a framework to propose new solutions. The world’s increasing population has not benefitted equally from increasing global wealth, nor has the fulfillment of basic needs, social justice, shared prosperity, or environmental protection been met consistently across the globe. Moreover, international development as a professional field evolves quickly, already having changed dramatically from the mid-century era that saw the founding of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to the Cold War to now.

Sessions will begin the week of April 20, 2015 and run for 8 weeks. Sessions will likely be on Wednesday evenings, but times and dates are subject to change due to contributor availability. Likely dates are listed next to session topics below.
