Please note this programme is only available to YPFP Brussels members at this time.
The Advisors Program is YPFP’s flagship career development initiative intended to connect like-minded people at different stages in their career. Dedicated, accomplished individuals (Advisors) are paired up with motivated young professionals at an earlier stage in their career (Advisees). What makes the program different is its peer-focused development focus, so advisees can learn from both senior practitioners and fellow young professionals in Brussels one-on-one and in workshop settings.
The Program
YPFP Brussels wants to harness its vast professional network in Brussels and give its members an exclusive benefit of experiencing an advisor to advisee relationship. In the Advisors Program we carefully match two like-minded individuals who are encouraged to meet regularly for a period of six months from April to October 2021 (participants are expected to reside in Brussels during this time).
The Advisors Program aims to help both partners focus on short and long term career development goals. Advisees and advisors are encouraged to set goals, meet regularly (twice a month), draft career development plans and make the most of each other’s professional backgrounds.
In addition to those meetings, YPFP Brussels will be organizing a series of workshops (both online and in-person) where all advisors and advisees will get together and discuss several topics.
Added value for Advisees and Advisors
YPFP Brussels goes one step beyond professional match-making. We arrange tailored career development workshops for the participants.
Advisees are able to get insight into new fields, discover their strengths, define personal career development goals and have a senior professional help find ways to achieve them. Furthermore, advisees will extend their network, receive valuable tips and get immediate feedback from their advisors.
For advisors, advising someone professionally can be a rewarding experience. YPFP advisors have the opportunity to help advisees achieve their potential, discover their strengths and possibly advance their careers. At the same time, advisors train their own listening and leadership skills.
Practicalities
The time commitment is modest and defined by the partnership. Advisors and advisees decide themselves how often and in what format they meet (breakfast, lunch, coffee, drinks or Skype). We encourage pairs to touch base with each other around twice a month.
