Ambassador Series with South African Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU, Mxolisi Nkosi: The Role of Youth in Development and Security in Southern Africa

Join YPFP and the South African Embassy in commemorating the fallen of the 1976 Soweto Riots, which helped bring about the end of Apartheid in South Africa. On the occasion of South African Youth Day, we have the privilege of hosting our members for a special instalment of our Ambassador Series entitled “The Role of Youth in Development and Security in Southern Africa”, in conversation with H.E. Ambassador Mxolisi Nkosi.

In one of the world’s youngest regions, change is happening fast. Growth is soaring in some countries, dwindling in others. Migrants are crossing borders, urban areas are transforming and economic inequality is on the increase. What role can development play in fostering security in Southern Africa? Inspired by the sacrifices made on 16 June 1976, how can today’s youth work towards a safer, more secure Southern Africa?

Mxolisi Nkosi is the Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinaire of the Republic of South Africa to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Head of Mission to the European Union. A career diplomat, he was previously posted to Geneva. Before he took up his Ambassadorial posting, Nkosi was the Head of the Africa Branch in the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

Note that this event is exclusively for YPFP members.
