Sweden's Ambassador to the European Union, Mr Anders Ahnlid, will join YPFP Brussels to talk about Sweden's unique approach to foreign policy under Foreign Minister Margot Wallström, known as Sweden's feminist foreign policy. Sweden's feminist foreign policy aims at ensuring women's rights and participation in central decision-making processes, including in peacebuilding efforts and peace negotiations. At a time where Europe is in crisis, we will explore with Ambassador Ahnlid how Sweden's feminist foreign policy can contribute towards global stability, and Europe's stability. He will also explain how this policy has affected his day-to-day work in Brussels.
Ambassador Ahnlid will also discuss the current state of the European Union, addressing Brexit and the relationship of the EU and Russia at a time of increasing tensions between the two neighbours.
Members will have the opportunity to address the Ambassador directly during the Q&A session. The event will be followed by a dinner buffet, generously offered by the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the European Union.
