As of July 1st, Slovakia will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time, succeeding the Netherlands. The programme and priorities of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU will be approved by the Slovak Government in June 2016, but five themes have already been put forward as priorities for this Presidency: economic growth, the Digital Single Market, the creation of an Energy Union, migration, and EU enlargement.
To help us understand what we can expect from this new Presidency, Ambassador Peter Javorčík, the Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the EU, will be speaking to YPFP members to discuss what Slovakia wants to achieve for the EU during these six months and how it hopes to achieve its priorities.
The event will be followed by a small cocktail reception where members will be able to taste some Slovak wines.
