Join Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, the George Washington University and the British Council for an address by Sir Ciarán Devane, Chief Executive of the British Council.
Sir Ciarán Devane became Chief Executive of the British Council in January 2015. A biochemical engineering graduate of University College Dublin in his native Ireland, he also holds a master’s degree in International Policy and Practice from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. He began his career as an engineer and manager with Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), and later joined Gemini Consulting, where he led multi-country change programs for companies such as DuPont, AstraZeneca and Glaxo. Sir Ciarán later received widespread recognition—and was honored with a knighthood -- for his service to cancer patients as chief executive of Macmillan Cancer Support, where he helped transform the organization into a leader in cancer research and treatment. This will be his first visit to Washington, D.C., since taking up the post of Chief Executive, British Council.
