Job Description 

The Community Manager is primarily responsible for creating a world-class “in space” experience at Impact Hub DC. This includes providing a world-class member experience, managing a full suite of member services, as well as the operations and maintenance of our two-floor facility in a historic building in the heart of Chinatown. Our space is open for co-working from 9am to 6pm and transitions to an event space for community and public events during evenings and weekends.

Job Responsibilities

Member Experience

  • Develop and implement strategies that create a vibrant culture, grow our community and retain members; act as the central member-to-member connector for the community

  • Oversee and manage team of hosts and work traders responsible for reception, tours and orientation sessions, customer service, space operation and maintenance as well as meeting room rental sales to non-members

  • Act as the primary contact for all members regarding membership agreements, office space improvements and amenities

  • Build strong connections among members through events and personal introductions

  • Source Member stories to share with the community

  • Work with HQ to ensure proper handling of office members’ billing and registration of members

  • Provide excellent customer service to all members and act as the to ensure members have everything they need Ensure great in-space communication with the members on a daily basis

  • Oversee execution of Impact Hub DC working groups and other tools, services and content to create a robust membership experience

Facilities and Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and facilities of Impact Hub DC

  • Manage all in-house systems and ensure efficiency and quality of how members interact with these systems, including: meeting room reservations and billing, mail delivery, furniture maintenance, supplies inventory and ordering, kitchen maintenance, etc.

  • Evolve the space to meet the growth and needs of evolving membership

  • Manage in-kind sponsor relationships that affect operations of the space (e.g. furniture/food & beverage/office supplies)

  • Manage local relationships with suppliers and contractors for proactive facilities management, including electrical, HVAC, minor construction, janitorial

Desired experience and skills:

  • 3+ years in community-building within a membership organization, volunteer community, professional association, community of experts, etc.
  • Experience in facilities management in the hospitality or event management industry
  • Experience managing volunteers
  • Experience managing to budget, goals and objectives
  • Experience working in a startup environment

  • Customer service, solutions and conflict management

  • Experience negotiating and/or managing facilities related contracts and emergencies
