WalterLane is pleased to lead the search for a Project Manager, Transatlantic Relations for the DC office of Bertelsmann Foundation. The foundation’s work focuses on the trans-Atlantic partnership and new foreign policy challenges, with an emphasis on the impact of the financial crisis on U.S. and European economic and social policy. The foundation provides a forum for global best practices and a venue for thought leaders to exchange ideas.
Location: Washington, DC
In this role you report to the Director of Transatlantic Relations and support the team’s research and program needs in appropriate topic areas. You will collaborate with other team members to develop programming that supports the organization’s standing as a prominent voice in transatlantic relations.
Salary range 45 – 50K DOE, plus annual bonus and generous benefits. Dedicated, talented staff! U.S. citizenship required.
Provide research support * Contribute to and write short and mid-length pieces and reports * Design new proposals/projects with public and private sector partners * Research and track legislative issues related to trans-Atlantic issues, particularly related to trade issues * Lead the foundation’s joint initiative connecting Congressional and European Parliament staffers with similar policy expertise * Liaise with government officials, think tanks, diplomatic leaders, and NGOs in DC and Brussels * Event management – budget management, preparation of policy content and organizational issues * Program support for panel discussions, conferences and workshops * Build and maintain contacts within the foreign and economic policy community.
You should have a Master’s degree in international affairs or a related field plus 1 – 2 years of related work experience, OR a Bachelor’s with 2 – 4 years of relevant work experience * A strong knowledge of, and experience working on trade issues is a must for this role! * Strong knowledge of international relations, world politics, economics, and trans-Atlantic trade issues * Outstanding research & writing skills * You thrive in a creative atmosphere where brainstorming is the norm and new ideas are encouraged! * Exceptional references * If you speak German it is a plus!
