Job Description
The Research Assistant will play a key role in the production and administration of Freedom in the World and Freedom of the Press, Freedom House's global publications. This position is based in New York and will report to the Director of Freedom in the World and Freedom of the Press.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform research and fact-checking for draft reports, presentations, and other materials
  • Take a lead role in logistical preparations for ratings review meetings, including booking flights and accommodation for participants, and other tasks
  • Organize and prepare review materials for external consultants and advisers
  • Prepare financial documents in line with Freedom House requirements
  • Perform financial tracking of project expenditures and ensure that all consultants are paid on time
  • Basic editing as needed
  • Other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, international relations, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Expert ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Exceptional research and writing skills
  • Ability to conduct research in another language is highly desirable, especially Spanish, French, and Arabic
  • Familiarity with and strong interest in good governance and human rights
  • Ability to apply superb attention to detail and consistently produce timely and error-free work
  • Outstanding computer skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Experience in event planning preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
