Wamda is a platform of programs and networks that aims to accelerate entrepreneurship ecosystems across MENA. Our core competencies are in community development, media, research, and advisory services. Each of which is a core pillar to supporting entrepreneurship in the region. Collectively, these programs make Wamda into the leading grassroots content, community and knowledge platform for entrepreneurs and their supporting ecosystem.

Wamda is looking for an associate to join the Wamda Research Lab (WRL – research.wamda.com). The WRL is the first and leading research program focusing on entrepreneurship development in MENA. It also serves as the knowledge hub of Wamda, supporting other programs in research efforts and tracking company impact. As an associate you will be integral to developing and pushing the WRL’s agenda forward as well as assuming a leadership role on select projects. Most importantly, you will be integral to shaping Wamda’s culture and mission with other program heads. Wamda is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs across MENA and you would be playing a critical role in meeting the company’s objectives.
Project development: Work closely with WRL team to develop projects and proposals on entrepreneurship in MENA region
Carry out individual studies with WRL team on various topics related to MENA entrepreneurship and innovation
Contribute to and lead creation of WRL surveys and studies, including, but not limited to: setting research project plans, creating research methodologies and tools, due diligence for creating survey questions, conducting interviews with entrepreneurs and other relevant stakeholders, analyzing survey data, writing survey results
Contribute to developing WRL long-term research agenda, including, but not limited to: identifying relevant research questions and topics, identifying different research products (i.e. briefs, formal reports, data visualizations, etc.), finding potential research partners, exploring different advocacy strategies, developing methods and tools for internal WRL and Wamda knowledge management
2-4 years of experience in a research and/or consulting capacity
Strong and demonstrated interest in one or more of the following fields: MENA or emerging market politics and economics, entrepreneurship in MENA or emerging markets, economic development in MENA or emerging markets, research and/or consulting in development fields
University or Masters degree in: Economics or development economics (or other social science field with quantitative focus), Statistics, Political science (with statistics or economic coursework) or Business
Strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for research
Ability to travel occasionally in and outside of the region required
